1. If at least fifteen or more Student Members at any recognised Educational Institution offering undergraduate or post graduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemical or Allied Process Technology desire in a body, the formation of a Students’ Chapter of the Institute, the Council shall, subject to the provision of following clauses, authorise them to do so.

2. The applications of Student Members separately or jointly to this effect shall be forwarded through the Head of the Department/Institution and Honorary Regional Secretary of the Regional Centre having territorial jurisdiction over the location of the Department/Institution, to the Honorary Secretary of the Institute for the approval of the Council.

N.B.:
1. “Atleast 15 Students have to take/apply for IIChE Student Membership first. After that the Institute may apply for a New Student Chapter with the list of SM.
2. The Student Chapter should obtain an NOC, as per format mentioned in the application, on the letterhead of the concerned Regional Centre in advance to enable uploading the same while filling up the application form.
3. Students whose Student Chapter or their colleges are not under any specific Regional Center, are advised to select 'Headquarters' from the drop down menu while filling up the form.

Documents should be available before filing the application form:

1. Authorization Letter/NOC
2. Declaration of the Coordinator of the Student Chapter enclosing the List of Students applied in the format
3. Payment should be made by Cheque drawn in favour of “Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers” payable in Kolkata or through NEFT at State Bank of India

The primary objective of a Students’ Chapter shall be to promote among Students in Chemical Engineering, a feeling of fraternity and brotherhood and to complement the objectives and activities of the Institute. It shall also render all possible assistance to the Regional Centres in matters relating to Student Members. The activities of the Students’ Chapter may specifically include the following:

1. To arrange Lectures, Film shows and Video shows related to the Chemical Engineering Education and Profession.
2. To arrange Seminars, Workshops, Group Discussion and Debates and to promote interaction of the Institute with Industry.
3. To establish and operate Book Banks for the use of its Members.
4. To arrange Excursions and Plant Visits of interest to the Student Chemical Engineers.
5. To assist and guide Student Chemical Engineers in their career planning and placement.
6. To assist any other activities of social, technical and educational interest to Student Chemical Engineers.

If any of our activities found deviation from the ‘Objectives’ or violation of ‘Code of Ethics’ of the Institute including non-submission of Audited Accounts to the concerned Regional Centre and/or headquarters in time or misappropriation of fund are observed with respect to any event under the banner of IIChE, the Council has the right to terminate the Student Chapter without assigning any reason thereof. In that case all the fund of the student chapter should be transferred to concerned Regional Centre under which it operates and/or to the headquarters. The name of the Coordinator & Office Bearers would be intimated to HQ after formation of Student Chapter.
