Associate Membership Examination |
Associate Membership Examination is being conducted since 1960. It is currently held twice a year, usually during March and September, simultaneously at different centers in India. The diploma of AMIIChE, awarded on passing the Associate Membership Examination and on completion of other formalities required under the Constitution (Rules and Regulations) of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Every candidate for the Associate Membership Examination must have any one of the following educational qualifications obtained from institutions recognized by competent authority.

Educational Qualification |
a. Degree in Engineering other than Chemical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
b. Degree in Technology including Chemical Technology.
c. Degree in Science with Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics as one of the subjects.
d. Diploma in Engineering other than Civil Engineering.
e. Degree in Pharmacy.
f. Other qualifications recognized by the Institute for the purpose, (listed in Appendix-I)

Besides the abovementioned educational qualification, every candidate (other than those having diploma in Chemical Engineering or Chemical Technology) must have at least two years’ practical experience as full employment in any of the following fields, at the time of registration for the Associate Membership Examination:
a. Design and fabrication of chemical plant and equipment.
b. Production and quality control in chemical or process industries.
c. Research and development in chemical or process industries.
d. Management or technical sales in chemical industry
e. Chemical Engineering education.
Candidates having diploma in Engineering or Technology are allowed to appear in Associate Membership Examination without two years practical experience in the above fields at the time of initial registration. However, they have to produce the two years practical experience certificate prior to appearing in Part-III (Home Paper) Examination. The project problem for Part-III (Home Paper) Examination will be assigned to the respective candidates only on receipt of the two years practical experience (out of full employment) certificate from them.
Candidates desiring to appear in the Associate Membership Examination should register their name by submitting an application for registration together with a non-refundable Registration Fee of Rs 1000/- only.
The application for registration together with the Registration Fee should be sent to Honorary Secretary, Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, Dr H L Roy Building, Jadavpur University Campus, Raja Subodh Mullick Road, Kolkata 700 032, within stipulated date.
The registration form shall be considered only if it is completed in all respects and is accompanied by the required documents and fee.
The last date of acceptance of application for registration shall normally be as follows, unless otherwise notified:

A maximum period of 15 years from the date of registration will be allowed to qualify in all the three parts of Associate Membership Examination.

The Associate Membership Examination will consist of Part-I, Part-IIA & IIB and Part-III (Home Paper).
Candidates may appear in one or more papers at a time. They may also appear for Part-I and Part-IIA & IIB simultaneously.

The candidate must pay the Examination Fees in full, in advance, for the part he/she intends to appear, before the last date of receipt of application for appearing in the Associate Membership Examination. Fees paid for the examination are not refundable nor can they be adjusted for later examination.

Printed copies of Rules and Regulations including the syllabus can be obtained on payment of Rs. 200/- only for each copy.

Previous Years' Question Papers |
Set of question papers for previous examinations are available from the Institute's office. Cost of question papers per part per examination is Rs.120/- only to be paid in advance.

The solution of old question paper (solved paper) is available by paying Rs.200/- per paper. The desired candidates are advised to write to us along with the exact amount.
